This course is designed for administrators who manage Splunk Enterprise environments.
The Splunk Enterprise System Administration course is a foundational, instructor-led training program designed for administrators, system managers, and engineers who need to manage and configure an on-premises Splunk Enterprise environment. This course teaches participants how to architect standalone and basic distributed deployments, oversee user access, and maintain the underlying platform infrastructure. Students gain a deep understanding of Splunk's backend, learning how to manage licenses, configure indexes and retention policies, and enforce fine-grained security through Role-Based Access Control (RBAC). The curriculum heavily emphasizes Splunk’s back-end configuration files, teaching students how to master file precedence rules to precisely control system behavior. Rather than focusing on data collection or writing searches, this training specializes strictly in platform health and system maintenance. Participants learn to install and manage Splunk apps, monitor system performance using the Monitoring Console, and configure the basic forwarding components that route data into indexers. By completing this training alongside its counterpart (Data Administration), students fulfill the core educational requirements necessary to sit for the Splunk Enterprise Certified Admin exam. Please note that classes may run across two days, consisting of 6 hour sessions.
