Students learn the complete workflow from highlighting sample events and generating expressions to manually editing, testing, and verifying extraction accuracy before saving them for organizational use.

In this course, you will learn how to: • Explore Field Extraction Basics: Identify different types of extracted fields and determine exactly when they are automatically or manually extracted. • Use the Splunk Web Field Extractor (FX): Define and navigate the FX graphical user interface utility to build reusable knowledge objects. • Master Regular Expressions (Regex): Identify the fundamentals of regex and explore the workflow for creating, testing, and editing regex field extractions. • Implement Delimited Extractions: Identify delimited field values (such as spaces, commas, or specific characters) in event data and explore the associated extraction workflow. • Manage Forwarders: Explain the use of Splunk forwarder management, configure forwarders as deployment clients, and manage them using deployment apps.
